Newark's new Weldon Home Care Services ready to provide outstanding care

A new home care company in Newark is striving to provide the highest quality of care.

Weldon Home Care Services, set up by Michelle Wells and Scott Gordon, is expected to begin operating fully within four weeks.

Michelle has three decades of experience in care work and has also worked as a paramedic.

She has set up two other care services in Newark for other franchises, building them up from scratch, but decided it was time to branch out on her own.

She said: “Nearly 30 years ago I started as a care assistant, and then moved up the ladder. I wanted to be out in the community delivering the care that people deserve.”

The company currently offers non-personal care, including shopping and cleaning, while it awaits a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

After the CQC completes its checks Michelle and her team will give personal care — such as bathing and feeding — to those who need it.

Weldon Home Care Services’ co-founder Scott Gordon said: “The most important thing to all of us is to be in our own home.

“Its so important to keep people in their own homes, ideally forever but definitely for as long as possible.”

Michelle said: “We work with people 18 to elderly, anyone with conditions that need long term care.”

The decision to run her own care company developed when Michelle felt restricted by the rules of franchises, which prevented her from giving the care she wanted.

Now, without the restrictions, she will also offer service users help with small handyman projects and gardening so they can have the highest quality of life possible.

Michelle prides herself on her standard of care, and aims to ensure the company is rated outstanding by the CQC.
