Murder accused remanded into custody
A man accused of murdering his wife has been further remanded into custody by a judge at Nottingham Crown Court.
Peter Thurgarland, 71, is accused of killing his wife Julia at tLow Farm, Maplebeck.
Mrs Thurgarland was found at the farmhouse on Friday, December 28. A post-mortem revealed the 70-year-old died from strangulation.
His Honour, Judge Michael Stokes, Recorder of Nottingham, remanded Mr Thurgarland into custody until a further hearing on March 1.
A provisional trial date was fixed for June 3. The trial is expected to last three to four days.
White-haired Mr Thurgarland, who was wearing glasses, a sage green polo shirt and grey trousers, needed a hearing loop to listen to Monday morning's proceedings.
His barrister, Mr Christopher Jeyes, did not apply for bail for his client.
