Bingham’s and District Choral Society music director plans charity Land's End to John O'Groats fundraiser
A choir’s musical director will walk 1,050 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats in less than three months, with a fundraising target of £10,000 to £15,000.
Guy Turner, musical director of the Bingham and District Choral Society, plans to start his long-term ambition on July 27, and aims to complete the walk on Monday, October 10.
The money raised will support the work of the four charities — Bingham and District Choral Society, Framework, Awards for Young Musicians and Southwell Minster.
Mr Turner will cover all of his own expenses so that all the money raised is given directly to the charities.
Mr Turner has so far raised a total of £7,683.
He will be writing a daily blog so that the public can ‘accompany’ him and follow his progress for the duration of his walk, supporting and encouraging his journey.

While Mr Turner sets off on the fundraising walk, the choir will be on summer break.
This follows its two recent golden jubilee concerts for the choir.
The choir will be back in autumn for a final concert of the series, which will be a jubilee Last Night of the Proms.
The concert will be on Saturday, November 26, at 7.30pm at Southwell Minster, and will also feature Mansfield Choral Society and Nottingham Symphony Orchestra.
Rehearsals start on Wednesday, September 7.
