New gin bar Madisons in Newark town centre is set to open this weekend
A gin bar and nightclub is set for its grand opening this weekend.
Madisons, a new and independent family-run business, has encouraged the party-goers of Newark to attend its launch event on Saturday.
Located on Cartergate the freshly-refurbished gin establishment replaced the former Jola Jola bar that was open for less than a year, and is to play 70s, 80s and 90s tunes.
Gemma Stevens, director and owner of Madisons, said she and joint owner Wez Ranyard had been planning the opening since spring.
“After doing a bit of market research we realised people thought there was limited night life in Newark, and that’s why we’ve come here in the first place,” said Gemma.
“Myself and Wez worked together previously in a nightclub and we thought we had the skills together to do our own.
“I think it would start getting people out again in Newark instead of going to Lincoln and Nottingham for a lively place.
“We are community-based and a family business, and want to use the venue for multiple purposes.
“As well as just being a bar and nightclub, we are going to use the venue for dance classes and ClubYouth, and it can be rented out for private hire.”
Madisons is to open from 12pm on Saturday and the big launch is from 7pm onwards and there will be drinks promotions to get people through the doors.
