Newark and Sherwood District Council Living Well Booklet shares information to support and advise residents

A Living Well booklet has been created to act as a central place for important information available to residents.

The booklet, created by Newark and Sherwood District Council, contains information on a range of topics for those looking for support.

It mentions where residents can access food provision across the district as well as food hubs and social supermarkets that offer affordable groceries to those who may need them, including in an emergency.

In addition, the booklet gives the locations and opening hours of warm spaces and coffee mornings that are in operation across the district.

These informal, friendly, and welcoming social groups are a great opportunity for people to make new friends and enjoy a warm drink for free.

Across the district, there are also several opportunities to eat with others also known as ‘social eating’.

There is also information on financial and Council Tax support that is available through the District Council as well as details of the Careline service which helps support people to live independently in their home.

The Living Well booklet can be accessed on the District Council website at: https://www.newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk/health-and-wellbeing/resident-health-and-wellbeing/.

Paper copies can be requested by emailing wellbeing@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk.

Councillor Susan Crosby, portfolio holder for Health, Wellbeing and Leisure at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “There are so many great initiatives and groups across the district who are providing important help and support to our community.

“Our hope is that now these initiatives and groups are collated into one central location, our residents will be able to better access help and support they may need.

“Whether they need an emergency food parcel and affordable groceries or if they want help to combat loneliness and social isolation and would like to know where they can meet new people over a cuppa or hot meal.

“I am committed to the health and wellbeing of our residents including their physical and mental health.

“Whilst this Living Well booklet is a great step in getting our residents help, the District Council are also doing all they can to make sure our residents can live a healthy lifestyle as set out in our Health and Wellbeing Strategy.”
