New Miss Newark and District crowned

An international high jumper who is hoping to compete in the 2012 London Olympics is the winner of this year's Miss Newark and District.

Miss Stephanie Pywell, 22, of Coronation House, Darlton, won the title at Southwell Racecourse on Sunday when she was selected from 11 finalists. She succeeds Miss Megan Brown, 18, of Smith Street, Balderton, who was crowned last year.

The runner-up was Miss Aimee Louise Barnett, 18, of Eden Court, Ordsall, and third was Miss Emma Wallace, 22, of Wildflower Grove, Sutton-in-Ashfield.

The Miss Popularity title for receiving the most text votes was won by Miss Harriet Watson, 17, of The Woodwards, Newark, and the Miss Charity title for raising the most money was won by Miss Victoria Armitage, 21, of Hercules Drive, Newark, who had already won the title of Miss Atrium.
