New phases for Yorke Drive regeneration approved by Newark and Sherwood District Council
Variations to phases for the regeneration of Yorke Drive and Lincoln Road playing fields have been approved.
Newark and Sherwood District Council's planning committee approved variations to conditions attached to plans for the regeneration of Yorke Drive.
The regeneration scheme was granted planning permission in 2019, but has faced delays due to necessary redesigns and cost issues. It includes plans for the demolition of homes on the estate and alterations to the Lincoln Road playing fields.
It is now proposed that the phases of development would be altered to cover four phases, with the first phase, phase 0 comprising of the open space, sports pitches and pavilion.
Phase 1 will include the main access roads and housing on the site frontage and the Eastern part of the site, whilst Phases 2 and 3 comprise of further housing development.
The playing field space has been re-located to the north-eastern corner of the site, from the initial proposal for it to be located in the south-eastern corner. An area of land surrounding the open space has also been designated to be used for a mixture of housing and playing fields.
A new access off Lincoln Road is also set to be listed as a condition of the development. The estate is currently accessed via Yorke Drive.
Councillors unanimously approved the changes.
