La Vita Mia Italian restaurant set to open at Newark Castle Station this week
An authentic Italian restaurant is finally set to open its doors this week.
La Vita Mia, which shares a building with the Newark Castle railway ticket office, will begin serving up its à la carte menu from midday on Wednesday (March 6).
It will be the second restaurant opened in the area by Amedeo Ingala – originally from Sicily in Italy – who also owns Bella Vita in Ollerton.
Amedeo said: “There will be pasta, pizza, steak and fish, all from an à la carte menu.”
He first started cooking at the age of 15 at his father’s restaurant. He developed a passion for all things culinary there and has since worked in both Italy and the UK.
The new restaurant is also a tribute to Amedeo’s late wife, who he described as a “fantastic pasta chef”, who loved Newark and the people.
He promised to open the restaurant in the town in her honour.
La Vita Mia was due to open in January, but was delayed in obtaining a licence to serve alcohol, which meant the opening date had to be pushed back.
It will initially be closed on Wednesdays, barring its opening day, and open from 6am to 11pm the rest of the week. It is expected to move to being open all seven days after the first few weeks.
The restaurant is now taking bookings on 01636 402584, including for Mothers Day.
