Luxury salon Sass Studio opens on Appletongate, Newark

A new luxury salon has opened it’s doors — promising an “ultra-premium experience” in a boutique setting.

Sass Studio has opened in the extensively renovated Old Malt House, on Appletongate.

It currently offers professional hair styling, colour, and extensions — using cruelty free, sulphate and paraben free Neal and Wolf products, and a fully vegan colour range.

It has been founded by Sophie Nelmes, who has nearly a decade of experience and trained at Vidal Sasson in London.

She says the new salon fills “a gap in the Newark market for an upmarket, high-quality salon that offers not just exceptional hair services but a full luxury beauty experience from start to finish, coming in the near future.”

The Old Malt House has been extensively renovated to preserve the building’s original features alongside a new contemporary interior.

Illustrator Laura Hill — known for her work creating murals for Village Chic and other shops in the town — has also created one-of-a-kind works for the space.
