Newark and Sherwood District Council Local Election Results 2019




Results from the Newark and Sherwood District Council elections are in.

The elections were held yesterday (Thursday, May 2) and the turnout saw 28,943 votes ­(32.9%).

Southwell had the second highest turnout at 45.65%, while Balderton South had the second lowest at 25.60%. To see the figures in full, click HERE.

Confirmed results:

  • Michael Brown (Local Conservatives) Scott Carlton (Local Conservatives) and Paul Peacock (Labour) were elected for the Edwinstowe and Clipstone ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Lee Brazier (Labour) Donna Cumberlidge (Labour) and Neal Mitchell (Labour) were elected for the Ollerton ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Neill Mison (Local Conservatives) Ivor Walker (Local Conservatives) and Keith Walker (Conservatives) were elected for the Farndon and Fernwood ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Sylvia Mary Michael (Local Conservatives) was elected for the Sutton-on-Trent ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • David Lloyd (Local Conservatives) Rita Crowe (Local Conservatives) and Mathew Skinner (Local Conservatives) were elected for the Beacon ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Max Cope (Local Conservatives) Bob Crowe (Local Conservatives) and Laurence Goff (Labour) were elected for the Devon ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Malcom Brock (Liberal Democrats) Peter Harris (Liberal Democrats) and Penny Rainbow (Local Conservatives) were elected for the Southwell ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Irene Brown (Independent) and Gill Dawn (Independent) were elected for the Bridge ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Louis Brailsford (Local Conservatives) and Tom Smith (Local Conservatives) were elected for the Rainworth North and Rufford ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Lydia Hurst (Conservatives) and Ronnie White (Conservatives) were elected for the Balderton South ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Keith Girling (Local Conservatives) was elected for the Castle ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Maureen Dobson (Independent) and Linda Dales (Local Conservatives) were elected for the Collingham ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Brendan Clarke-Smith (Local Conservatives) were elected for the Boughton ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Bruce Laughton (Conservatives) was elected for the Farnsfield ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Betty Brooks (Local Conservatives) and Johno Lee (Conservatives) were elected for the Balderton North and Coddington ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Kathleen Arnold (Labour) and Yvonne Woodhead (Labour) were elected for the Rainworth South and Blidworth ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Sue Saddington (Local Conservatives) was elected for the Muskham ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Roger Blaney (Local Conservatives) was elected for the Trent ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Roger Jackson (Local Conservatives) was elected for the Dover Beck ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Rhona Holloway (Local Conservatives) was elected for the Bilsthorpe ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council.
  • Timothy Wendels (Local Conservatives) was elected for the Lowdham ward for Newark and Sherwood District Council

With 39 seats available across 21 wards, Local Conservatives won 26 seats, nearly two thirds of the council (66.7%).

Labour party won seven seats, which makes up 17.9%, while the Independent party won three seats (7.7%).

Liberal Democrats won two seats (5.1%).

The results for the town and parish councils will also be revealed shortly.
