Newark by-election: Tories deluge town

Heavy rain wasn't the only deluge in Newark this morning as up to 1,000 Tory Party activists and 100 MPs pounded the pavements.

The Tories, including party chairmen Lord Feldman and Grant Schapps, took party in what the Conservatives termed a 'Dawn Raid.'

They were leafleting and following up pledges to vote 'Tory' today.

They were also hitting the phones following up on pledges and are expecting to be in the vicinity of the polling stations later on today.
