Level crossing barriers down at Newark Castle train station - delays in Newark town centre




A barrier fault is causing delays in and around Newark.

The level crossing barriers at Newark Castle train station are currently stuck down.

AA traffic news shows queuing traffic in both direction on Great North Road, while traffic approaching the Cattle Market roundabout is slow moving in all directions.

A spokesperson from Newark and Sherwood District Council said: "Please be aware that the railway crossing barriers at Newark Castle station are currently stuck down.

"As a result, traffic around the area is building up.

"Please avoid the area if possible."

Marshalls Coaches have also suffered because of the crossing barrier error.

A spokesperson said: "Newark Castle crossing has failed again, services 37 and 77 with connections to service 339 are currently all delayed.

"Please bear with us, we will get moving again as soon as network rail resolve the issue.

"We are very sorry for the inconvenience this causes."
