Bakkavor's Delicious Dessert Company whips up celebration éclair for Queen's Platinum Jubilee

A desserts manufacturer in Newark has whipped up a specially-made éclair to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

As the countdown to the Platinum Jubilee weekend gets underway, the Delicious Dessert Company — part of the Bakkavor family of brands — has launched its special eclair dedicated to Her Majesty the Queen.

The new celebration éclair, being made at the Newark site, combines strawberries and cream with a timeless love for chocolate in a new super-éclair — bringing a delicious and royal vibes to street parties and get-togethers across the country.

The product is being stocked at 496 Tesco stores for the extended jubilee weekend.

Claire Smith, head of insight at the Delicious Dessert Company, said: "With so many big events and street parties planned for later this week, our celebration éclair is a little something for friends and families to enjoy over the weekend because, for many, the small moments and treats can be as important a part of what promises to be a very special weekend.

"And at Delicious Desserts Company, we're pleased to have done something to help make the weekend a little bit extra special."

Newark Bakkavor was visited by the BBC Breakfast team last week ahead of the launch.

"It was such an exciting moment for our Newark colleagues to experience the BBC Breakfast team visiting our business last Thursday," said Claire.

"It was a really fun afternoon and the team’s proud of is this special product to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. We never expected national TV cameras to turn up and report on it, but it was a lovely surprise. "
