Newark heart disease workshop held on July 3

An interactive workshop on the causes of heart disease and how to reduce the risk is being held in Newark.

The British Heart Foundation workshop, organised by Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and East Midlands Ambulance Service, is at Holy Trinity Community Centre, Boundary Road.

It will feature presentations and quizzes on the lifestyle factors that increase the risk of coronary heart disease and the changes people can make.

It will highlight the importance of exercise and a healthy diet and the dangers of smoking, drinking, high blood pressure and stress.

The membership manager for EMAS, Annie Palmer, said: “It is important for people to keep their heart healthy, whatever their age.”

Participants will also receive information including dietary guidance and a body mass index (BMI) chart.

The workshop is on Thursday, July 3, from 6pm to 8pm.
