Newark Library improvements
There were mixed responses to improvements at Newark Library when it re-opened on Monday.
Staff were on hand to greet visitors as they arrived and to show them how to use the two self-service machines, which can be used to issue, return, and renew items and pay fees.
Some customers said they did not like the changes.
Mrs Clare Tobin, the district library manager, said people were surprised at how easy it was to use the machines.
She said it would make the library staff's jobs more interesting as they would have more time to help customers by recommending books.
There is now one door providing both the entrance and exit and the main counter has been removed to provide more space.
