Newark men sentenced for assault and driving without insurance at Nottingham Magistrates' Court
A Newark man who assaulted a woman received a suspended prison sentence at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.
Herbie Glenister, 29, of John Gold Avenue, had pleaded not guilty to the assault, committed in Radcliffe, but was found guilty following a trial.
He was committed to prison for 16 weeks suspended for 12 months.
Rehabilitation is required as part of the sentence. 41 bail remand days counted towards the sentence
length of sentence 16 Weeks suspended 12 months.
Costs of £774 were awarded against Glenister.
- A motorist who admitted to driving without insurance had six points added to his licence by magistrates.
Daniel Chappell, 21, of Mather Road, Newark,
Chappell was further fined £323 and had costs of £219 awarded against him.
- A man who attacked a detention officer at Mansfield Police Station was sentenced to eight weeks prison, suspended for a year.
Clive Quinn, 44, of Bellmond Close, Newark, initially denied the offence but then pleaded guilty.
The sentence was suspended due to defendant's realistic prospect of rehabilitation.
He must pay the officer £150 compensation.
Quinn also admitted failing to provide a specimen at the police station when suspected of committing an offence.
For that offence, he was sentenced to an eight-week consecutive term, also suspended for a year.
He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for two years.
