Tolney Lane, Newark, added to list of areas at risk of flooding following Storm Franklin

Flood alerts remain in place today as the impact of Storm Franklin continues to be felt in Newark and Sherwood.

River levels have risen at the Colwick and Shardlow river gauges as a result of heavy rainfall over the weekend.

Among the list of at-risk areas include Tolney Lane, Newark, Wykes Lane, Farndon, Kelham Road and the stretch of the River Trent from Fiskerton to Rolleston.

Further light rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours, with river levels expected to rise and remain high over the next few days.

The government is advising people to avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and to plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
