Nottinghamshire Police appeal after theft at Co-op on Lincoln Road, Newark




Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to after a shop theft in Newark.

Officers were called to reports of a man hiding a jar of coffee in his jacket at the Co-op on Lincoln Road.

After being challenged by a member of staff he allegedly became aggressive before leaving the store and failing to pay.

Officers investigating the incident, which happened at around 4.55pm on Friday, January 21, are now appealing for information and asking anyone who recognises the man to get in touch.

Pc Anthea Brotheridge, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are asking anyone who recognises the man pictured in this image to get in touch with us immediately. We believe he may have important information which could help with our inquiries.

“There is absolutely no place for incidents of theft and aggression like this in our society and we are determined to ensure that anyone who commits these types of crimes is held accountable for their actions.”

Anyone who recognises the man, witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101. You should quote incident number 544 of January 21, 2022.
