The world's biggest ever public auction of mobile cranes will take place at Newark Showground.

A two-day public disposal auction will feature 130 cranes along with more than 500 lots of general construction equipment.

They will be sold by Euro Auctions at the request of the administrators at Ernst & Young following the collapse of Manchester-based Hewden Stuart Ltd.

The auction will be on Thursday and Friday (March 2 and 3).

The cranes will go under the hammer on Friday.

"This will be the single largest collection of mobile used cranes ever assembled for sale in one place, anywhere in the world,” said the operations manager for Euro Auctions, Mr Jonnie Keys.

"Phenomenal interest is being generated by this auction within the industry from right around the globe as all the cranes have been maintained in A1 condition and many have exceptionally low hours and come with some manufacturers’ warranty.

“The quality of all the cranes and the range of models on offer are captivating prospective buyers. We know there will be massive interest in this inventory.

We are beginning to register interest from bidders from every continent, including the biggest crane buyers in the industry. This will be the biggest sale in crane history.”
