Newark Summer Dusk Market makes its debut in town this week
Newark town centre is welcoming the new Newark Summer Dusk Market event this week.
The Market Place will be filled with late-night food stalls, crafts, Punch and Judy and a drinks bar on Wednesday.
Preparing the event is market manager Ian Harrison and organiser Louise Clark, who hope to bring locals together for a night of community-focused fun.
Ahead of the European Juggling Convention – held at the Newark Showground this weekend – jugglers will be practising in the Market Place on Wednesday night.
Ian and Louise thought this was a good reason to make a night of it and hold events throughout the evening and bring the community together.
"We felt the town has been a bit down since Marks and Spencer's closed down and so we wanted to offer something fun for the town," said Louise.
As well as market stalls staying open late, independent shops are also getting involved in the hope of bringing more business to Newark's town centre.
Louise said: "We have a great selection, a 1940s ice cream bike, amazing stalls, face painting, vegan food and a crepe wagon – it is going to be a fabulous, family-orientated, fun evening."
There will also be discounts and promotions within stores that are open late to encourage the attendance of local people.
"As a market town we are working hard to bring as much as we can to the town, and I feel we are doing an amazing job," said Louise. "The market that day will be totally full into the evening."
