Newark town centre was hustling and bustling on first weekend under new Tier 3 coronavirus restrictions

Newark town centre was hustling and bustling yesterday (Saturday) morning.

Residents seemed confident enough to get out and about to do some Christmas shopping.

It was the first Saturday since Newark and Sherwood, and the whole of Nottinghamshire, was placed under new Tier 3 coronavirus restrictions.

Most markets and stores were being used by shoppers.

Many queued in a long line in the cold weather to get a hot drink, while others were in and out of shops.

It seemed social distancing measures in the centre were being well maintained by shoppers and market holders.

On Middlegate, businesses were equally as busy. Just around the corner on Chain Lane, people had a long wait for a haircut outside The Bald Barber.

Please remember to shop local for Christmas this year to help our independent businesses get back on track.
