Newark Traveller who admitted being drunk in charge of a horse among Nottingham Magistrates' Court listings
A TRAVELLER who admitted being drunk in charge of a horse on a highway was fined £120 and told to pay costs of £119 at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.
Charlie Gaskin, 37, of the Bowers Caravan Site, Tolney Lane, Newark, committed the offence on Northgate.
A 15-YEAR-OLD convicted of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and damaging it before it was recovered was referred to the Nottinghamshire Youth Offender Panel for six months.
The boy, from Newark, who cannot be named because he’s under age, admitted taking the vehicle, driving without a licence and having no insurance.
His future driving record was endorsed with a 12-month disqualification and he must pay the car owner £50 compensation.
The panel will look at a Thinking Skills programme and victim impact.
A MAN who ignored a restraining order to pursue a relationship with a woman for a year was sentenced to a 12-month community order with a rehabilitation requirement.
Tom Workman, 38, of Sleaford Road, Newark, pleaded guilty to breaching the order and will also have to carry out 100 hours of community service and pay costs of £180.
The conditions of the restraining order were varied to be stronger.
A MAN who threatened a police officer and damaged a police van at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, while unlawfully at large was jailed.
Paul Bryan, 25, of Addington Court, Radcliffe, admitted threatening behaviour with racial and religious elements, and criminal damage.
He was told to pay £200 in compensation for the damage to the van and £100 to the officer involved.
Bryan was sentenced to 12 weeks at Her Majesty’s pleasure.
A FRAUDSTER who failed to comply with the requirements of a suspended prison sentence is behind bars.
Neil Green, 55, of Ton Lane, Lowdham, admitted the breach and the eight-week suspended sentence, imposed for three counts of fraud by selling fake goods; socks and boxer shorts that bore the Hugo Boss logo, became an immediate jail term.
A SHOPLIFTER was handed a suspended prison sentence of 12 weeks.
Christopher Binns, 38, of Forest Road, Ollerton, admitted taking washing tablets, coffee and Budweiser from a One Stop Shop in Newark.
He also admitted taking a bottle of champagne, two steaks, two energy drinks, two packets of crisps, alcohol and green vegetables from a Co-op in Newark.
And, lastly, stealing some garden chairs from La Vita Bella hair salon in Newark.
Binns was told to compensate One Stop to a total of £30, Co-op £68.55 and La Vita Bella £20.
Binns was already on a suspended prison sentence when he offended and was fined £100 for breaching it.
A THIEF with a taste for coffee found himself in hot water.
Cliff Bunch, 26, of Strawberry Hall Lane, Newark, admitted stealing jars of coffee worth £30 from Co-op on Lincoln Road. He must pay that sum in compensation, a £40 fine and £64 in costs.
JACK PRIESTLEY, 29, of Grange Road, Newark, was disqualified from driving for nine months by magistrates.
Priestley admitted charges of driving while disqualified and having no insurance. He was also sentenced to complete 100 hours of unpaid work as part of a 12-month community order and must pay £180 costs.
