Couple expand their Copper Studios performing arts centre to Newark

A couple who met at performing arts' college and went on to set-up their own dance studio have expanded into Newark.

Copper Studios will host introductory free workshops on Saturday.

The couple, Harry and Meghan Hindley, decided that after graduation they wanted to start their own classes in their own space.

Their first performing arts studio opened in Nottingham seven years ago.

They have now expanded their businesses with another studio right in the heart of Newark.

“The area is a lovely little market town, we love it here, and the space has potential, plus there aren’t too many performance art classes being offered in the area,” said Harry.

Saturday showcase will feature jazz dance workshops, acting, singing and commercial dance workshops.

The studio has two different rooms, a dance space with capacity for around 50 people and a smaller singing room.

Classes start are for age groups two to 18 with a variety of classes, from ballet, commercial, and modern, to musical theatre, which includes acting, singing and dance.

This Saturday, from 3pm until 6pm, Copper Studios will be hosting a free open event in the new space.

From 3pm onwards, there will be jazz dance workshops, acting, singing and commercial dance workshops.

“We’re really excited to be at this stage and to expand and share our knowledge, said Harry.

“At the same time we’re quite nervous to open in a new area, not having any students, but overall we’re really excited.

“For future goals we’d like to expand, have more classes in the timetable as they fill up, and offer as much as possible.”

Copper Studios is at 23 Slaughterhouse Lane, Newark.
