Newark's Sconcefest cancelled

Sconcefest, due to be held at Sconce and Devon Park, Newark, on Sunday, has been cancelled because of the bad weather.

The decision was taken because of the muddy conditions at the park and the rain that is still forecast for the weekend.

Newark and Sherwood District Council took the decision in consultation with the Friends of Sconce and Devon Park.

The Americana International event at Newark Showground continued today, with visitors refusing to allow the rain to spoil their fun.

The event, the biggest of its kind in Europe, began yesterday and finishes on Monday.
