Mr Bridget said: “It is a great honour to be recognised for my contribution to home news delivery. HND is key to the success of my business providing 80 per cent of newspaper sales.

“I would like to thank the Federation for this award and would like to thank my staff for all their hard work – this award is testimony to the hard work and professionalism of my team.”

Mr Bridget grew his HND service from 400 customers to 1,200 with the space of three years and is now expanding to meet demands. A total of 27 people, made up of adults and teenagers, deliver for the Newark News shop.

Following NFRN advice, Mr Bridget has invested in his staff by making sure that they have appropriate training to stay safe on the roads. all bikes are checked for wear, the team wear high visibility jackets and full risk assessment are carried out. However it's not just the safety of his own employees that concerns Mr Bridget as he explains: “Lots of our customers are elderly and we can sometimes be the only person they converse with that week when they pop in to pay their bill. Knowing that someone will be calling by each day and will notice if anything is wrong is comforting for them.”
