Summer is finally here and it's time to get a list together of what to get up to with your kids.

Parents often scramble over whether there are enough activities for their children to get involved in throughout the long six week break.

But with Newark offering a wide range of events this summer for kids of all ages – it won't be difficult to keep your little ones occupied.

The Newark Treasure Trail

Suitable for ages 9-18 there's great fun to be had on the Newark self-guided treasure hunt themed Treasure Trail.

Where: Castlegate, Newark, NG24 1AZ.

Price: £6.99 per trail (not per person). One rail booklet recommended for a group of 4 to 5 people.

Go Ape Sherwood Pines

Hidden deep in Robin Hood country, Go Ape Sherwood Pines is a high ropes experience for all your inner bandits.

Where: Sherwood Pines Forest, Edwinstowe, NG21 9JL.

Price: Adults (16+) from £10.00, kids (10-15) from £10.00.

Southwell Racecourse

Get together with your kids for an action-packed day at Southwell Racecourse on Monday 26th August. Thanks to the amazing Nottinghamshire Sports Day event, you and your little ones are in for a brilliant afternoon of fun and games.

Riverside Park

Riverside Park is the local community venue for a wide range of regular family oriented events, from music concerts to food fairs, funfairs to duck races and also contains a number of pieces of public art for the kids to discover as they explore.

Kelham Hall and Country Park

Kelham Hall is also perfect for parents and older children interested in it's history, marvel at the UK's second largest free standing concrete dome. Guided tours of the hall run on most Sundays.

Elk Motorsports

Elk Motorsports is calling on all rev-heads to burn some rubber and is welcoming to beginners to the experienced to an all weather floodlit track with a top quality, high grip tarmac surface.

National Civil War Centre

Take the whole family on a trip to the 17th Century, the National Civil War Centre will send you right back in time with loads of interactive exhibits.

Price: Adults: £8.00, kids (5-16) £3.50, concessions £7.00, under 5s go free.

Southwell Minster

Southwell Minster with its majestic Norman nave and glorious 13th century chapter house is one of the under-discovered jewels in the crown of Nottinghamshire and a great little stop to get the kids' imaginations going.

Price: Donations welcome.

Rufford Abbey Country Park

Rufford Abbey Country Park has 150 acres of beautiful country park to explore and enjoy. The Leafy Children’s Play Village is also a lovely way to keep kids busy as they explore the sandpit and tunnels.
