No kidding — baby goats take up yoga
Visitors to a farm centre have the chance to experience yoga with a difference.
White Post Farm, Farnsfield, is offering sessions with baby goats who clamber on board participants’ backs or legs as they strike a yoga pose.
The farm is holding 12 yogoat sessions, which are proving popular.
The farm’s marketing manager, Mr Anthony Moore, said: "We work frequently with a local college and one of the tutors is a qualified yoga instructor, more specifically a goat yoga instructor.
"She mentioned trying it at the farm and we thought: ‘What could possibly go wrong?’
"We all like to have fun here. We have got a YouTube channel with staff challenges and I think the whole idea fits in with the ethos of the farm.
"As soon as we made the sessions available they all sold out within minutes."
There are six days in total, three this week, two dates in September, and one in October, which are all fully booked.
"We have a good relationship with our customers and I knew they would enjoy it, but I was shocked at how popular it has turned out to be," Mr Moore said.
He said the yoga instructor, Polly Wiltshere, provided a tough workout.
There are family sessions and adults-only sessions.
"Customers have been leaving red faced so it is really good for them too. There are some tough yoga positions and it provides a good workout," Mr Moore said.
"There are some serious yoga experts coming to try something with a difference and everybody so far has said they love it."
Mr Moore said it wasn’t only customers enjoying the experience, but the goats were too.
The goats perch on shoulders, backs, legs and anything else where they can find space during each yoga move.
At the end of each class, there is a goat selfie session where customers can get pictures with their new yoga partner.
Mr Moore said: "They are our baby goats. It brings out the character in them. Some are a lot cheekier than others.
"It is always fun to see which one will jump on a person first.
"When people are walking in to the yoga enclosure the goats are all lined up at the gate waiting to get out and join in."
There is a chance more yogoat dates will be scheduled.
Mr Moore said: "If we can find the time we will put more dates on. If it gets announced it will be on our Facebook page — so keep an eye out."
Tomorrow, the farm is live streaming on Facebook from 7pm until 10pm. This will include a goat yoga feature.
