No suspicious circumstances surrounding sudden death
Police say they are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of an elderly woman in Southwell.
There were suggestions of foul play in the town following the discovery and it was suggested the woman may have disturbed a burglar.
Police say their attention was drawn to evidence of an attempted break-in when they responded last night but that the householder had reported that attempt to them herself a week ago.
A forensic examination was carried out at the address and a police presence remained overnight.
Detective Inspector Brian Foster said: "We are satisfied the death is not suspicious and that it is not connected to any other incident.
"We believe the death to be as a result of natural causes and are liaising with the coroner's office."
The woman is said to live alone and was believed to be 89 year's old.
Police have asked the Advertiser not to reveal the street in Southwell while next of kin are traced.
