No trains between Nottingham and Grantham following bridge collapse

No trains are running between Nottingham and Grantham following a bridge collapse at Allington.

Replacement bus services in operation on the route which takes in the stations of Radcliffe, Bingham, Aslockton, Elton and Orston and Bottesford.

The bridge collapse has been caused by a bank slip.

East Midlands Trains services between Nottingham and Skegness are start and terminating at Grantham as a result.

An East Midlands Trains spokesperson said: "We apologise for the disruption caused to our passengers by this major problem.

"Network Rail engineers are on site working hard to repair the bridge and re-open the line, however we understand this requires major work and therefore unfortunately have no estimate of when we will be able to start running our normal service again.

"We will ensure we do everything possible to keep passengers on the move whilst work is carried out by Network Rail."
