Edingley Care Home, Newark, recreates Notting Hill Carnival for resident




A care home in Newark has experienced a Caribbean themed party in honour of the Notting Hill carnival. — Writes Tyler Kay

Residents of Edingley Lodge celebrated the yearly festival thoroughly, and engaged in activities.

They ranged from decorating their homes and gardens to eating carnival street food and listening to authentic drum music, in which they championed Caribbean culture.

Notting Hill carnival is an annual festival which has been celebrated since the 1960s which promotes Caribbean culture through various parade bands and sound systems.

Mary, a resident from Edingley Lodge, said: “I can remember going to Notting Hill Carnival many times over the years, I always had a great time watching the parade in the sunshine and sampling all the different types of food on offer.

“It is such a vibrant, colourful event.’.
