Nottinghamshire drivers urged to stay hydrated during hot weather
Nottinghamshire drivers are being urged to stay hydrated in the current hot weather.
Notts Police have advised drivers to plan ahead and have bottles of water with them when travelling on the county's roads.
With temperatures expected to reach record-breaking levels tomorrow (Thursday) it is important to remember the heatwave dangers.
The young and elderly are particularly at risk in the hot weather and overheating can make symptoms worse for people who have heart and breathing problems.
Emergency planning officer Nick Waltz, of Notts Police, said: "If people are driving, we are asking them to be prepared and to have some bottles of water with them so they can stay hydrated should they get caught up in long delays in the hot weather."
Police are also advising people with existing health problems to find cooler areas to stay in as heatstroke can make individuals very ill and can sometimes be fatal.
