Little Toes Day Nursery in Bottesford turns ‘inadequate’ Ofsted rating into ‘good’

A Bottesford day nursery is celebrating after going from an Ofsted rating of ‘inadequate’ to ‘good’.

Little Toes Day Nursery, based in Walford Close, was inspected in August and found to be ‘good’ in all four key assessment areas.

After opening in June 2021, the nursery was deemed to be ‘inadequate’ in all four categories in October 2022.

Little Toes Day Nursery is now rated 'good' by Ofsted.

A follow-up visit from Ofsted in March showed improvement had been made, with two categories rated ‘good’ and two remaining ‘inadequate’.

The most recent inspection has rated Little Toes as ‘good’ in all areas, which has brought pride to company director, Racheal Buxton.

She said: “New management and staff teams have worked hard to ensure that the best opportunities are provided for the children in our care.

“The team have worked together to create environments and experiences which put the children at the centre of everything we have achieved.

“We are proud of the improvements made and look forward to a bright future of growth and development.”

Racheal also explained that there has been restructure to the business, with her former business partner taking control of the West Bridgford setting, meaning Racheal is the sole owner of the Little Toes nurseries in Bottesford, Clifton and North Muskham.

The Ofsted report said: “Leaders and staff have taken positive action since the last inspection and made the required improvements.

“Staff interactions are warm and engaging, and children are fully encouraged in all aspects of their play and learning.

“Leaders and staff implement the curriculum well. The staff clearly understand each child's starting point and what skills they need to develop next.

“Parents speak highly of the nursery and staff. They comment that they receive regular information about their child's day and are provided with lots of ideas of how they can support their child's learning at home.”

In terms of areas that Little Toes could improve in, the report said that the nursery should “continue to support staff to develop their skills to extend younger children's language and vocabulary” and to “continue to build on relationships with parents so that parents understand and are clear about their child's progress and development”.
