Objections to turn Chesterfield Arms, on Church Street, into apartments voiced by Bingham Town Council

Objections have been made to proposals to transform a pub into apartments.

The application, by Kelly Peberdy, of King Rock Ltd, sought to convert and extend the empty Chesterfield Arms, in Church Street, Bingham.

If approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council, it would create three ground-floor units and four two-bedroom apartments on the upper floors.

Plans also include the demolition of the pub’s extension, which would make way for a new two-storey building with five two-bedroom apartments.

Bingham Town Council’s planning committee objected to the plans over privacy concerns.

A Church Street resident also had concerns because of the first floor balconies.

Mr Julian Williams also said: “The proposal of balconies will make this particularly intrusive. Balconies, as planned, have no precedent on the street and do not fit in with the Georgian and Victorian aesthetic of the street.”
