Newark Town Council offices re-open from today
The offices of Newark Town Council will re-open from today (Monday).
The town council undertook a review of its operations in response to the latest relaxation of coronavirus restrictions following Freedom Day on July 19 and, as a result, the town council will be open for business to the public for the first time in 18 months.
However, opening times will be reduced to a morning only service, 9am-1pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Phone and email access will remain available between 9.30am–4pm, Monday to Friday.
The town hall also provides a range of rooms that are available for general hire; in particular it is a popular venue for weddings and wedding receptions.
These are also available from August 1 and new lettings are encouraged now that the restrictions on numbers meeting indoors have been removed.
All booking enquiries can be made using bookings@newark.gov.uk or ring 01636 684804.
Public conveniences have been kept open and operational throughout most of the lockdowns; along with closer management to make them covid-compliant and safe for customers to use.
It has been decided that from August 1 they will return to previous operating arrangements; this means that there will be fewer staff on duty and the admission charge of 20p will be re-instated.
The Town Hall Museum has also been closed since lockdown began in March, 2020.
It has been decided that it will not re-open at present. That position will be considered again following a fundamental review of the museum operation, including its location within the town hall.
