Orchard plan for Collingham

An environmental group is hoping to set up a community orchard in their village.

Collingham 2020 Green Vision is a non-profit making organisation set up to help minimise environmental damage by encouraging people to shop locally.

They hope to find a plot of land in Collingham where they can plant fruit trees such as apples and pears. The fruit grown in the orchard would be distributed among villagers.

Chairman of the group, Mr Derek Middlemiss, said individuals, businesses and organisations in the village would be asked buy trees.

Mr Middlemiss said once a piece of land was identified in the village they would be looking to set up a Friends of the Orchard group made up of residents to oversee the purchasing of the land.
