Outstanding rating for village school
Pupils at a primary school have strong, positive relationships at every level according to inspectors who rated the school as outstanding.
Staff at East Bridgford St Peter’s Church of England Academy were presented with a certificate by the Diocesan Board of Education for Southwell and Nottingham in recognition of its achievements.
The school, which has 269 pupils, was rated outstanding by inspectors from the Church of England Education Office and The Methodist Church in a Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools report.
Inspectors said the school’s values were recognised as Christian by all pupils.
They said pupils respected the school’s ethos to “take care, aspire, have integrity, work hard and be proud.”
The report said: “Strong, positive relationships at every level are a strength of the school, which empowers its members to see the potential of every person as made in God’s image.
“The professional and highly-motivated headteacher promotes an enthusiastic approach to all learning, achieving outstanding progress for every pupil.”
The head, Mr Richard Tomlinson, said: “This outcome is testament to the spirit and togetherness of all connected with St Peter’s.”
- Pupils at the academy wore onesies to raise awareness and money for a charity fighting type one diabetes.
They took part in a typeonesie campaign and raised £260.
Holly Shipman, a year two pupil at the school, has type one diabetes and spoke to her classmates about living with the condition.
Mr Tomlinson said: “It helped to break down the barriers about what people think Holly can and can’t do.”
