Parakeet found in Newark Library is up for adoption after being taken in by RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre
A parakeet has been rescued from Newark Library and is now up for adoption.
A crimson bellied conure parakeet was found flying around Newark Library on October 13.
Since then, the bird has been taken into the care of the RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre and is now looking for a new home.
Parakeets belong to the parrot family.
They are usually small to medium sized parrots and have long tapered tail feathers.
Lyn Jarrett, an Animal Care Assistant at the Radcliffe centre, said: "The parakeet is very social and does get lonely in here.
"We are not specialised for birds and our facilities are limited.
"He does enjoy where he is living at minute, but he needs a settled home to move into.
"They are very clever birds and you can keep them indoors if they have accessible flight around the house.
"This type [of bird] can imitate what you say and what you do.
"He is up for adoption and needs a new home, so if anybody can improve his standard of living, please come forward."
