Newark Parish Church event recognises beauty of natural environment

An event to recognise the beauty of Newark's natural environment took place.

Visitors to Newark Parish Church watched an hour long presentation of photos, accompanied by live music from Rowan Cozens and Christina Schoohuakker.

Organisers Tom Martin and Rowan Cozens said that they wanted the event to act as a moment of reflection following COP26.

Tom said: "We just felt that it was really important that we celebrated the natural environment that we have around us.

"We saw that there was a lot of talking going on with COP26 but not as much action as there should be and that now was the moment just to get up and do something."

The event attracted around 70 people who sat and listened to the music in silence.

"At the time of COP26, it's a call for people to reflect on what the environment means to them," said Rowan.

"We thought it would be really nice to do it without lots of words. Enough has been said about the environment.

"It went really well and we hope to organise more events like this."
