A Nottingham Community Housing Association plan to build on green space by Cedar Avenue and Chestnut Avenue in Newark has been postponed by Newark Town Council and Newark District Council

A controversial planning application to build 32 affordable new homes on green space by Cedar Avenue and Chestnut Avenue in Newark has been postponed yet again by town and district planners.

Newark Town Council’s planning committee had been due to consider the application from Nottingham Community Housing Association on March 22, having already postponed it twice before.

Now it’s been taken off the agenda once again and moved to May 29.

District council planners, who will decide the plans, have postponed the decision from April to June 4.

Town clerk Mr Alan Mellor said: “We are only consultees on planning applications and this application is still under consideration or discussion between the district planning officers and the housing association. There’s no point in us commenting on the scheme until the final version of the application is available.”
