Newark to see improved Stagecoach and Trentbarton’s bus services due to Nottinghamshire County Council funding
Bus passengers are set to benefit from more frequent buses and timetable changes thanks to funding from the county council.
Stagecoach’s Newark ‘1N and 2N’ will see cross-town bus routes introduced, that will extend from Newark Morrisons to Newark Bus Station, and then on towards Balderton and Hawtonville.
The new routes will run every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday and will double the service to Lincoln Road area and Coddington while providing cross-town links.
The 3N services will no longer be in operation, from February 23, but all existing stops will be served by the ‘1N and 2N’.
The improvements come as part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan funding and partnership work with Trentbarton and Stagecoach.
Trentbarton’s ‘Calverton’ evening service will see an hourly Monday to Thursday service and a bus every 30 minutes on Saturday evenings from March 2.
Neil Clarke, cabinet Member for Transport and Environment at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “We have looked at passenger demand and where amendments can be made to timetables and routes so that the overall experience can be a positive one.
“Passengers will also notice that buses will be arriving at stops more promptly and will get them around the county, whether that’s to their place of work or to local amenities, and of course if you are travelling around the Newark area there’s the all-rounder tickets that allows you to travel using any operator.”
