Path campaign finally over
A 15-year campaign to open up a path along the River Trent in North Muskham finally ended yesterday when an order was made at Newark Magistrates Court.
District judge Mr Melvyn Harris signed a stopping up order for the path, known as Ferry Road, which will downgrade it from a restricted byway to a bridleway.
The order also includes an adjoining byway, Trent Ford Road, which has been made a footpath.
The paths are already open to the public but legal wrangling over them were unresolved until this week.
It was decided by Mr Harris that an order for costs could be awarded against an objector to the order, Mrs Susan Parker, of Trent Farm, Main Street, North Muskham.
The hearing was adjourned to April 1 to decide the amount Mrs Parker will have to pay Nottinghamshire County Council, who made the order.
