Pedal and polar power help Southwell golf captains raise thousands for Beaumond House and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance

Two golf captains have raised thousands after putting themselves to the test on long distance challenges.

Norwood Park Golf Club captains Jacquie Whur and Steve Buckle raised £29,000 during their captaincy year at the Southwell club, in support of Newark-based Beaumond House Hospice Care, and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

They also made a donation to Nottinghamshire-based charity TOFS and Norwood Junior Golf Development.

The pair stated: “As our time as captains at Norwood Park Golf Club comes to an end, we just want to thank every single member, staff, sponsors and visitors for their fantastic support throughout the year, it truly has been amazing.

“We can honestly say, we have absolutely loved every minute of it. £29,000 an amount that was beyond our wildest dreams and we can’t thank you all enough for your generosity and support.

“We also want to thank Senior Captain Henryk and Junior Captain Ethan Shields who have been brilliant throughout the year.

“Finally, we would like to wish Linda Rushmere, Adam Brisendon, Kevin Pateman, and Thomas Bamford a great year as our new incoming captains

“Thank you all again so much for what has been a very memorable year for us.”

To raise funds, Steve took part in a Coast to Coast bike ride covering over 150 miles, and Jackie undertook a six-day Arctic trek with temperatures reaching -26C.
