Peter Capaldi's Doctor Who to go "into darkness" for Series 8

A trailer for the new series of Doctor Who, starring Peter Capaldi, has been released.

Capaldi, best known for his role as Malcolm Tucker in The Thick Of It, is taking over from Matt Smith, who left the series last year.

In the trailer, the Doctor's companion Clara, played by Jenna Coleman, asks: "Where are we going?" to which he replies: "Into darkness."

It opens with the phrase "life returns" which many believe is spoken by Davros. The trailer finishes with the Doctor asking: "Am I a good man?" to which Clara replies: "I don't know."

The new series begins on August 23.
