Newark and Sherwood District Council’s planning committee approves plan for conversion of stable building into a home in Fiskerton

Planning permission to change a stable building into a home in Fiskerton has been approved by council members.

The application sought permission to convert an existing empty stables building at Syndre Farm, part of the Trent Valley Equestrian Centre, into a new home with an open plan living area with kitchen/dining/lounge, separate home office, entertainment room, and en-suite bedroom with a private garden.

Agent George Machin spoke at Newark and Sherwood District Council’s planning committee meeting on Thursday (October 3), and said that the proposal was a unit for the equestrian centre’s owner, Mrs Rose Wilson, to live in.

He said that the application has seen no objections from residents and the Environment Agency had raised no objections either:

“This is fully supported by the local community and we hope that members of the planning committee will give their support,” he said.

The application had received support from Fiskerton Parish Council, and ward member Keith Melton said that the sensible thing to do is to support the application:

“The business is an effective one and provides support to the local community with employment and activities.”

Tim Wildgust added: “When I see things like this you look for objections, but there are none so I don’t see why we shouldn’t support it.”

The application was approved unanimously.
