Harworth submits application for 190 more houses at Thoresby Vale development, Edwinstowe, to Newark and Sherwood District Council

An application has been submitted for 190 more houses as part of the next stage of a growing development.

The properties will form ‘stages six A and seven’ of the Thoresby Vale development, at the former Thoresby Colliery in Edwinstowe.

Outline planning permission is being sought for up to 190 dwellings – as well as public open space, landscaping, drainage and associated infrastructure – for the next two stages of the development, to be completed by Harworth.

It will take the total number of houses which have either been passed or have had applications submitted up to 800, the maximum currently approved for the site.

The exact appearance, landscaping, layout, and scale of the development phases will be decided in a further reserved matters application at a later date.

Part of the land included in the application is designated as country park — which expands beyond the development — and the area is anticipated to include visitor car parking and facilities.

An existing colliery building on the site is expected to be retained and renovated to create community facilities, offices, shops, cafés and potential residential apartments.

Two new play areas are also proposed within the application land.

Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board – which commissions health services – has request ‘section 106’ funding totalling £186,580 to cover the proposed 190 homes, which would be invested in existing practices.

Nearby practices are currently running at capacity, and the ICB stated: “It is likely that the plans will include either reconfiguration or extension of existing premises or a new build that this S106 contribution will contribute towards.”
