Southwell plastic surgeon charged with attempted murder of former colleague Graeme Perks set to be tried in October

A Southwell plastic surgeon charged with the attempted murder of a former colleague is set to be tried in October.

Dr Jonathan Peter Brooks, known as Peter, attended Nottingham Crown Court in person today and was told a provisional trial date had been set for October 18.

He denies the attempted murder of Graeme Perks, arson with intent to endanger life at Mr Perk's home and possession of a knife.

Mr Perks suffered stab wounds at his home at Halam Hill, Halam, on January 14 last year.

The court heard if it was possible to trial Dr Brooks, of Landseer Road, Southwell, at an earlier date — then this would be arranged.

At a hearing earlier this month, Dr Brooks sacked his legal team and confirmed his intention to represent himself at trial.

He continues on remand at HMP Nottingham until the next hearing on May 20, when it is hoped some progress will be made on Dr Brooks' defence statement.
