Southwell plastic surgeon charged with attempted murder has trial date brought forward




A Southwell plastic surgeon charged with the attempted murder of a former colleague has had his trial date brought forward.

Dr Jonathan Peter Brooks, known as Peter, attended Nottingham Crown Court in person today (Monday) and was told the provisional October trial date had been vacated and brought forward.

He denies the attempted murder of Graeme Perks, arson with intent to endanger life at Mr Perk's home and possession of a knife.

Mr Perks suffered stab wounds at his home at Halam Hill, Halam, on January 14 last year.

Dr Brooks, of Landseer Road, Southwell, reiterated his intention to represent himself at trial.

Judge Gregory Dickinson QC, Recorder for Nottinghamshire, said Stephen Leslie QC had been appointed to cross examine witnesses on Dr Brooks' behalf.

Dr Brooks continues on remand at HMP Nottingham until the next hearing on July 4, where he will present in front of the trial judge High Court Judge Mrs Justice Ellenbogen.

He will be tried in the week commencing July 11.
