Youngsters at Balderton Village Day Nursery and Cherubs Edwinstowe enjoy the snow

Children at Balderton Village Day Nursery had great fun after the snowfall of last week.

Rachel Antcliffe, from the nursery, said: We were aiming to build a snowman but a snowball fight was much more fun.

“Once we had been outside we went in to enjoy a nice mug of hot chocolate.”

Come rain or snow Cherubs Edwinstowe says it is keeping a positive mindset.

The nursery is beating the January lockdown blues by accessing outdoor play in the rain and the snow.

Sarah Hickling, nursery manager, said: “Children who access regular outdoor play have reduced stress levels and anxiety.

“It is thought by accessing five minutes of outdoor play in a natural environment improves mental health and the children’s wellbeing.

“The staff and children all benefit from going outdoors.

“We enjoyed dancing with instruments in the rain.

“Then it was building snowmen and snowball fights to combat the lockdown blues.”
