Newark’s Neighbourhood Policing Team and Operation Reacher join district council housing officers in closing town property linked to crime and anti-social behaviour




Police and council officers enforced a temporary clousre notice at a property in Newark yesterday.

Three people were arrested for being in breach of the order and have been charged to court.

A hearing is to take place at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow where evidence of alleged drug-dealing, violence and anti-social behaviour connected to the address will be put in an effort to ensure the closure order placed upon the council house is made a fixture for three months.

The three people arrested were men aged 28 and 58 and a woman aged 38.

Newark and Sherwood Police’s Operation Reacher said the initial order had been achieved through the dedicated work of Newark’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, and the good partnership working with district council housimg teams.

It said: “Nottinghamshire Police has received multiple reports of anti-social behaviour regarding this property and will continue to actively disrupt individuals who engage in anti-social behaviour which affects other residents and the local community.”
