The man suspected of carrying out the attack has been described as in his mid-twenties, having ginger hair, and being of slim build.

Detective Inspector James Oakton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a nasty assault on a man who was seemingly minding his own business when he was confronted and then struck from behind.

“It really should go without saying but this type of violence and aggression is simply unacceptable and will not be tolerated by Nottinghamshire Police.

“On that note, we’re appealing to anyone who saw this assault happen, or thinks they know who could be responsible, to please tell us.

“If you have this information, it’s important you share it with us, so that we can take action.”

Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened or has any other information that could assist their investigation to get in touch with police immediately by calling 101, quoting incident 649 of 22 April 2025, or share information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
